If last year Jeep reinvented the compact SUV segment with Renegade, it was time for the brand that created the category of 4×4 vehicles to launch the new reference among mid-sized SUVs: the all-new Jeep Compass. Manufactured in the most modern factory of FCA – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, in Goiana (PE), the new model unites design, technology, performance and sophistication in an unprecedented way in the segment in Brazil. All this added to the incomparable off-road capability that is in the DNA of any Jeep brand vehicle. “Now the family is complete,” says Sergio Ferrari, director general of the Jeep brand for Latin America. “The Jeep Compass will bridge the gap between Renegade and our traditional imported line of Cherokee, Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. And how could it not be, the Jeep brand comes to establish a new standard of quality in this category with tremendous growth potential, “he adds.
The Jeep Compass sets a new course for the middle-class SUV category with a world-class design. The model will debut in Brazil, both in production and sales, and next year will be produced in other factories, offering in more than 100 countries. This shows the relevance of Latin America to the Jeep brand and the role that it can play in the goal of gaining leadership in the global SUV market. For the first time in a vehicle produced in Brazil, the consumer will have access to an advanced set of safety items, which will include adaptive cruise control (ACC), track-change monitoring (LDW) and frontal collision warning / prevention (FCWp), among others. The mechanics of the Jeep Compass stand out for its timeliness and variety. There will be versions with the new 2.0 Tigershark flexible engine, which works in harmony with a 6-speed automatic and 4×2 traction. Other configurations of the new SUV will be powered by the renowned turbo 2.0 Multijet II, the only diesel in the segment, whose power is distributed by a (also exclusive in the segment) 9-speed automatic transmission and the Jeep Active Drive Low 4WD, the most advanced category. In English, Compass means compass, but the symbolism goes beyond. “The most important instrument in the era of great navigations, the compass connects perfectly to the four values of the Jeep brand, for being synonymous with adventure and freedom. A tool that, used by people full of passion and authenticity, has led humanity to unimaginable frontiers, “explains Sérgio Ferreira. The Jeep Compass can already be ordered in the 200 points of sale of the Jeep network in Brazil, in the following configurations: Sport, Longitude and Limited, equipped with the 2.0 Tigershark; and Longitude and Trailhawk, with the 2.0 Multijet II.
Design with sophistication and authenticity Jeep
The new Jeep Compass presents aesthetic with emotional lines and expressive, of great attitude and with exceptional proportions about waterproof car covers. The new SUV is immediately recognizable as a Jeep, not only because of its distinctive features (seven-slot grille and trapezoidal contour rail) but also traits that refer to more sophisticated models of the brand, notably the Grand Cherokee. And without leaving aside unique touches such as the roof line down the rear, increasing the appeal, but without damaging the internal space. The optical assemblies have gained special attention from designers, and therefore have LED signatures both front and rear – standard from the initial version. The front lighting is supplemented by daytime running lights and fog lights, also items present in all configurations of the new Jeep, and cannon-type projectors, which can be xenon (Trailhawk and Limited). The lines that denote strength also appear in the hood, in the shape of a shell and with a central carved shoulder. But the most striking and sophisticated feature is the frieze that begins at the base of column A, accompanies the upper line of the side windows, crosses column C, circles the rear window from the side and down – and repeats this path on the other side. The interior brings materials and finish unmatched in the segment, making the spacious cabin very cozy, without losing sight of the functionality inherent in Jeep brand products. Advanced, the central portion of the panel gives a “muscular” look and shows the inspiration in the trunk of the human body. The idea is completed with the soft touch coating on the panel cover, representing the texture of the skin. There are even refined details with a dark gray finish or ‘piano black’, depending on the version. As if the beauty of style was not enough, the Jeep Compass brings the already famous Easter eggs of the brand. Just like kids looking for eggs at Easter, the fun here is to look for curious details hidden where you least imagine. There’s everything from a salamander (a symbol of climbers) to the Loch Ness monster, past traces of pioneer Jeep Willys MB tires. In addition to clearly demonstrating that designers follow one of the values of the brand, freedom, these little surprises go back to the rich history of the Jeep, which has just turned 75, with more energy than ever before – as proven historical records in global sales since 2012.
Even before entering the Jeep Compass, the Keyless Enter ‘n’ Go presence key (standard from the Longitude versions) already begins to present the extensive list of technological equipment, made to facilitate and, in particular, protect all occupants . With the key in your pocket, you can get into the vehicle and start by pressing the button on the steering column. The presence key can also count on the option of remote start of the engine, allowing the cabin to be pre-conditioned. Right in front of the driver, the TFT configurable screen (present in all versions) on the dashboard features almost two dozen information from the on-board computer and other systems, such as audio, GPS navigation, telephony and safety features . It can be colored and 7.0 inches, further highlighting the internal refinement. All button-driven on the left-hand wheel radius, which also houses cruise control (including ACC, when equipped), speed limiter and audio controls. The well-being on board can be extended with electric seats for driver (8 directions) and passenger (4). All Jeep Compass will have the practical and efficient Uconnect multimedia system with touch screen, built-in GPS navigator, camera of back and connections Bluetooth and USB, already from the version Longitude, the monitor is colored of 8.4 inches, with extra functions like air conditioning control and even more advanced voice commands. Audio quality gets even better with the optional sound of the renowned Beats brand, 506 Watts of power, 9 speakers and subwoofer.

Among the options for the Sport and Longitude versions (standard for Limited and Trailhawk) there are two additional side air bags, two curtain airbags and one for the driver’s knees, totaling seven bags when added to the two front compartments. But the biggest highlight is the set of features that makes the Jeep Compass reach an unprecedented level among domestic vehicles. It is made up of adaptive speed control (ACC), track-change monitoring (LDW), automatic high beacon (AHB) and frontal collision warning and prevention (FCWP), which encompasses automatic braking. Another item of high technology is the automatic parking system, Park Assist, which operates in parallel and perpendicular spaces.
Unimpeachable performance. About any terrain
Whatever the engine, the Jeep Compass delivers excellent performance. The versions powered by the 2.0 Tigershark flexible engine will have up to 166 hp of power and 201 Nm of torque available. This force will be distributed to the front wheels by the 6-speed automatic transmission, with fins behind the wheel already from the Longitude option. It is worth mentioning that the off-road capacity of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is raised to a higher power with the following changes: suspension 2 cm higher, special mixed-use tires, extra protection plates under the body and the black matte adhesive in the center of the hood. Contrary to what can be imagined, it has a practical function, that of eliminating the driver’s dazzle, by cutting unwanted reflections from the sun or other external source of light. For all that, this version receives the Trail Rated 4×4 seal, proving that the vehicle exceeded Jeep criteria for five requirements: articulation, ground clearance, maneuverability, water transposition (in this case up to 48 cm) and traction.
Quality and refinement of construction
The Jeep Compass project was thoughtfully designed to meet the requirements of the most demanding markets on the planet, and this care is present in the units that will leave the most modern factory of the group FCA – Fiat Chrysler Automobiles in Goiana, Pernambuco. These are details ranging from 5,000 solder points on the chassis to courtesy light on the exterior mirrors, from the three microphones on the ceiling to pick up the voice commands to the 18 noise dampers scattered across the body. Not to mention the use of high-strength steel (HSS) in about 70% of the chassis, to increase rigidity and refine dynamic behavior and shock absorption. The biggest goal is to make the quality of the product speak for itself. And in order to achieve this goal, no means and efforts were spared. Case of the McPherson architecture on the rear axle, making the new Jeep have independent suspension on all four wheels. This provides tremendous gains in running comfort, stability and safety. Simpler, but not least, the electric parking brake is so convenient that in everyday life it is possible to forget the existence of it. Not to mention the best use of space and style of the central console.
Special aftermarket for an odd vehicle
The refinement of the project is replicated in the post-sale. In addition to attending technical support at 164 points out of the 200 Jeep network, Mopar has prepared the 60,000-kilometer revision plan with a workforce included and a program of varied and sensible services to meet the needs of consumers. unprecedented for the Jeep in Brazil. With Mopar Vehicle Protection (MVP), the Jeep Compass 2.0 diesel Multijet II engine will have packages, with closed prices, two to five revisions. For versions with the 2.0 Tigershark flexible, up to eight revisions can be purchased in advance. Other Mopar news will be packages that will entitle you to a set of services. As for example two oil changes and a steering alignment, or three oil changes and an alignment. There will also be an offer to extend the benefits of the 24-hour Privilege Service, which normally lasts three years, for another one or two years. It should also be noted that Mopar has two warehouses in Brazil, to make even more agile the displacement of spare parts (many of them national). For Compass only 2,500 components are available. The Jeep Compass warranty is for three years (can be extended for another one or two years) with no mileage limit. The revisions will be done every 12,000 km on the units with the Flex propellant and every 20,000 km on those powered by diesel. Also without time limit, so as not to harm the consumers that run little – only the exchange of oil and filter has to be made annually. As for the accessories, another important front line of Mopar, the Jeep Compass already arrives with more than 40 items (a record number for the segment), half of which was developed especially for the new model.
